Islamabad United found themselves in a spot of bother after pacer Hasan Ali sustained an injury after the toss against Lahore Qalandars. Hasan’s name was on the team sheet which was submitted after the toss. However, the United then learnt that the pacer has got himself injured and won’t be able to take the field. This meant Islamabad United were under the scare of taking the field with just 10 players.
Nonetheless, they added South African pacer Marchant de Lange in the line-up after getting approval from the officials and Lahore Qalandars skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi. For the unversed, the opposition skipper needs to agree if there’s any change in the line-up after the toss. As Shaheen didn’t have any objection, the Proteas speedster was added to the playing XI.
Shaheen Afridi obliges Islamabad United’s request
“As per rule 1.2.1 of the HBL PSL Playing Conditions, team captains Asif Ali and Shaheen Shah have agreed to change Marchant de Lange for Hassan Ali in the Islamabad United squad,” tweeted the official account of Pakistan Super League. Meanwhile, the coin landed in Lahore Qalandars’ favour and they had no hesitation in batting first at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Hassan Ali developed an injury after the toss and we had no choice but to replace him with another player.
We are deeply thankful to @iShaheenAfridi and the @lahoreqalandars for their #SpiritOfCricket and allowing us to play Marchant de Lange instead.#UnitedWeWin #HBLPSL7

Meanwhile, both these sides have been pretty impressive this season and would like to clinch this encounter. As per the current team standings, the Qalandars are holding the second place with five wins in eight games. On the other hand, the Islamabad-based side is occupying the fourth place with four wins and as many losses.
With PSL 2022 being in its business end, both sides would like to win their remaining fixtures and secure a place in the next stage. It must be noted that the last meeting between these two sides went right down to the wire and the Qalandars walked away with a eight-run win. Hence, Shaheen Afridi’s men would like to replicate their heroics while Asif Ali’s team will aim to settle the scores.
