In some light-hearted scenes, Umpire Aleem Dar tried his best to tackle fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani in of one his now-famous celebratory runs during Multan Sultans’ recent encounter against the Quetta Gladiators at the ongoing Pakistan Super League.
Dahani is slowly but surely coming up the ranks as the cricketer with one of the best celebrations in the game. Continuing on his tradition, the fast bowler had set off for yet another sprint after knocking over Naseem Shah’s stumps with one of his quick swinging deliveries in the 14th over of Quetta’s innings. However, the standing umpire for the game had other plans.
Dar, who is one of the world’s most respected umpires, was in a humorous mood on the day as he tried to catch Dahani in a bid to stop him from setting off on his run. Though Dar tried his best, he failed to tackle the speedster, who was off and running as usual. The incident has left fans chuckling after a recent clip of it went viral. Dahani ended up with figures of 2-22 in his three overs taking his total wicket tally so far in the season to 12.

Batting first, the Sultans posted a mammoth 245-3 on the back of their skipper, Mohammad Rizwan’s innings of 83 from 54 balls. Rizwan’s effort was complimented beautifully by another scintillating knock off Rilee Rossouw’s bat who scored 71 of just 26 deliveries.
The target proved to be way too steep for the Gladiators, who lost the game by a massive margin of 117 runs. This recent victory now makes it eight wins in nine games for the Multan Sultans. The team has been totally prolific in the tournament so far, having already qualified for the playoffs. For the 2021 champions, odds are set high in their favour for them to go all the way in defending their title.
