Andre Russell is a household name when it comes to West Indies as well as in the franchise leagues all over the world. The burly allrounder can singlehandedly change the complexion of the match within an over and his finishing prowess at the end makes him the best in the business.

He was last seen in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). His astonishing assault against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) 54 in just 22 balls when half their side was shot out in the powerplay was one of the most brutal innings so far in the tournament. He has time again played such knocks and blew the opposition away by smashing huge sixes.

Now Pakistan Super League (PSL) will get to witness the maverick allrounder in action as Quetta Gladiators have acquired his services for the second half of the league which is set to resume in the UAE. In an interview with Geo News, Russell was asked how the PSL compared to the other T20 leagues in the world.

“I play IPL, I play big bash or Caribbean Premier League. I play in other leagues around the world. And I’m definitely gonna say that PSL [is one of the top leagues around the world]. I just think it (quality of cricket and bowling talent) makes the league even tougher. So it’s among the top leagues,” he said.

Andre Russell keen on delivering goods for Quetta Gladiators

Currently, Quetta Gladiators are languishing at the bottom of the points table, but the 33-year-old feels it’s just a matter of one or two games and the team can quickly come up in the points table.

“I should contribute in whatever way [possible]. I won’t get that sweet joy of lifting the cup with them, but I will know why they should bid towards that, And when you get a winning momentum, it is just confidence after confidence, and from game to game, you feel untouchable as a team so once you’re doing well, you will know what to do to win again,” Russell said.

Russell has previously turned out for Islamabad United and Multan Sultans in past and it remains to be seen if the all-rounder can work his magic with the Gladiators.
