PSL or IPL? - Darren Sammy picks his favourite T20 league
He was asked a couple of interesting questions.
Every sport has two great players competing against each other as the best of the generation. In tennis, there has been a debate over Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer for a long time. In football, there is a debate over Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. When it comes to cricket, there was a huge competition between Sachin Tendulkar and Brain Lara during the late 90s and early 2000s. However, since the mid-2010s, the debate hasn’t changed but the candidates have.
Virat Kohli and Steve Smith are the top players of this generation and often there’s an unsaid battle going on between them. Surely, Kohli has better stats in ODIs but Smith packs a punch with his Test records and performances around the world. Every now and then, experts are joining in giving their opinion on this matter. Former West Indian skipper Darren Sammy also gave his opinion and chose his favourite among the two.
Darren Sammy makes his picks
As a lockdown has been going on throughout the world, no cricket matches have been played across the world for more than a month. Many sports media hubs are trying to keep their followers engaged with regular content. Dareen Sammy appeared in one such show via video conference from his home.
During the interaction, he was asked whom he likes more. Without any hesitation, he said that he thinks Virat Kohli is better than Steve Smith. Sammy revealed this during the ESPNCricinfo’s show “You have to answer.” The clip of the interaction was uploaded by ESPNCricinfo on their official Twitter account.
Other than this, Sammy was also asked which league he prefers between the Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League. On this Sammy chose PSL. Sammy has attached to the league since its inception year and has been a key player during the last few years. Unlike most of the top international players, Sammy has made a more impressive stay in the PSL instead of IPL.
Additionally, he chose Kane Williamson ahead of Joe Root. In another question, he was asked to choose between West Indian greats Brian Lara and Vivian Richards, but he couldn’t make a choice properly and ended up saying he would choose both.
