PSL spot-fixing is unfortunate: Kumar Sangakkara

Former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara has stated that the ongoing scandal involving a few Pakistani international crickets as an unfortunate in the grand scheme of things. However, the 38-year old went ahead and added that it was indeed a great job done by the authorities who are doing all they can to nab the perpetrators. However, despite all of this, Sangakkara has made an impressive start with some impressive performances for the Karachi Kings in recent times.
“The authorities have done a great job, it is sad but we now need to move on and play the game in the right spirit,” Sangakkara said, after the match against Quetta.
However, the former Sri Lanka skipper has stared that the players also have a great responsibility to ensure that there is an overall respect for the game and that corruption is something that is completely eradicated from the game at the moment.
“It is unfortunate that it has happen,” he said. “We have to play the game and we have got a great responsibility to ensure that we respect the game and to ensure that we never groomed for any sort of corruption,” the former Sri Lankan captain commented.
Sangakkara also spoke about Shahzeb Hassan, one of those embroiled in the scandal at the moment. Sangakkara added that he had a chat with the youngster who happens to be in a great frame of mind. “I had a chat with him, he was in very good frame of mind. He was a bit rattled like anyone would have been,” he said. “Player from our team was cleared from everything and he’s clear to play. So we are back 100% on field today,” Sangakkara said.
