Qatar T10 League 2019: Day 3 – Round-Up

The fourth game of the Qatar T10 League was played between the Desert Riders and Flying Oryx. And once again, it was the side that batted second which reigned supreme. The Riders decided to take the field first after winning the toss. However, it wasn’t their day with the bat. Hussain Talat and Bilawal Iqbal got good scores but ended up consuming way too many deliveries. Abdul Rashid (17 off 8)and Harmandeep Singh (13 off 6) provided some momentum to what otherwise seemed a boring innings. Thus, the team managed to get to 95/6 in 10 overs.

Mohammad Hafeez played top-notch cricket for the Desert Riders in the chase. Along with his opening partner Adnan Mirza, he took his team off to a flyer. While the former scored 45 off 23 balls, the latter mustered 20 off 8 balls. With more than sufficient overs left, Muhammad Tanveer took it upon himself to help his team complete the chase. His unbeaten 19 guided them to a 7-wicket win.

Something different happened in the fifth match of the tournament between Swift Gallopers and Falcon Hunters. For the first time, the side that batted first won the match. The Gallopers put on 116 runs on the board in the first innings. The openers Zaheer Ibrahim and Kamran Akmal scored some quick runs at the start. Jahanzeb Ashad and Sadiq NM, by scoring 15 runs each in quick time, pushed the team’s total to 116/5.

The Falcon Hunters didn’t get off to the best of starts and were down to 5/3. From here, it didn’t seem as if they’d get anywhere close to the target. But Mohammad Rizlan led a good fightback. He scored 35 runs and good support from the other batsmen as well. However, the pressure got the better of them and they lost by 6 runs.

FLH: 110/9 in 10 overs (Mohammed Rizlan 35, Murad Khan 16, Gayan Wimalashantha 2/8)

Swift Gallopers won by 6 runs.
