One spot for the semi-finals in the Qatar T10 League is still up for grabs. The Swift Gallopers and the Flying Oryx will be locking horns in the first of Sunday’s doubleheader at the West End International Cricket Stadium in Doha. The Gallopers, led by Kamran Akmal, have already made it through to the semis. They started with a defeat, but came back with three thumping victories on the trot.

For the Oryx, a win will seal them a berth in the next round. In that scenario, the Heat Stormers and Pearl Gladiators will officially be knocked out of the tournament. The two teams will be hoping for Hussain Talat’s Oryx to go down. Both the Heat and Stormers are yet to open their account, having lost three matches. But with an NRR of -5.719, the Gladiators are languishing at the bottom.

Pitch and Conditions

The track in Doha has been an absolute belter for batting. And it’s mostly be seen that sides have preferred to bat second. The bowlers may again be taken to the cleaners. The weather will be on the trickier side with chances of rain throughout the day. The heavens are most likely to open up around 7 and 9 pm local time. Hence, full 40 overs on the day seems unlikely for the time being.

The Oryx’s batting hasn’t been all that great. Skipper Hussain Talat has 77 runs at a strike-rate of 167.39. But barring him, there hasn’t been much contribution from the others. Talat is also their only half-century maker in the tournament. Their bowling has been pretty economical. However, the bowlers haven’t made enough breakthroughs. Veteran Manpreet Gony can be promoted in a jittery batting lineup since he has a strike-rate of 271.42. Their bowling has leaked runs with all of them going above 10 runs per over.
