Quadrangular series in Australia beckons for India A

India A will board a flight to Australia later this year to play a quadrangular series. The series, scheduled to be in the Australian winter will also feature the South Africa A side, hosts Australia A, and a National Performance squad. These teams will compete against each other in an officially sanctioned 50-over series. The India A and the Australia A team will then go on to play an unofficial 2 Test series against each other in Brisbane.

The ODI series will commence from the 13^th of August and will be played at the Tony Ireland Stadium in Townsville and Mackay. The Australians have already announced their 24-man squad for the tri-series.

Cricket Australia’s General Manager of Team Performance, Pat Howard announced that this was an immensely important series in terms of developing and growing talent in all countries. He also added that the National Performance squad was a set of players who were viewed as potential successors to the current Australian national outfit.

”This is an important series for developing and growing the depth of talent in our pathways.” He further said – “Players in the Australia A and National Performance Squad have been identified as having the potential to play for their country and the national selectors will be watching this series with interest.”

Howard also went on to add that the inclusion of the South Africa A and the India A squads added a new dimension to the series.

”India and South Africa are strong competitors with wide-ranging skills to challenge our players and build their experience against high-quality opposition,” Howard said.
