Quarantine helps Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma burn old hatches and rejuvenate their relationship
Sources have suggested that coach Ravi Shastri has played a role in bringing the two together.
In the past couple of years, there have been several reports of an alleged rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. However, the new reports suggest that the two superstars of Indian cricket may have buried all the differences from the past and moved on. During the recent ODI and T20I series, the two were seen getting involved in many discussions on the field.
A source close to BCCI has revealed that during the recent series against England, the two players got enough time to burn down the hatches and improve their relationship. It has also been revealed that head coach Ravi Shastri has played a crucial role in bringing the two back together. The source of BCCI noted that the two world-class batsmen are in more sync than ever.
“A great deal of personal bonding has happened in recent weeks and they’re more in sync now than ever with regards to their cricket, the team, their responsibilities, and the upcoming challenges,” the source was quoted saying by News18. The source also pointed that the quarantine time has allowed the two time to sit down and sort out the differences.
During the series, Virat made it a point to keep his discussions on with Rohit constantly: BCCI sources
“All the chatter from the outside was causing too much bitterness and all the hearsay was making things worse. Like all professionals, Virat and Rohit too would have disagreements from time to time. But until recently, they never thought of sitting down and talking it out with the kind of clarity that is now visible,” the source further added.
Apart from pointing that the outside talk was not helping their relationship, the source also noted that the two have decided to appear in public more to ensure that they are fewer talks about their rift now. “During the One-day series, Virat made it a point to keep his discussions on with Rohit constantly during the game. These things would happen earlier too, but this one time they’ve decided to make it more visible for outsiders to know that all this chatter now needs to stop,” the source said.
The two were seen multiple times during the ODI and T20I series in the middle, discussing strategies. They also opened the batting in the final T20I in which they put on a stand of 94 runs, much to the delight of Indian fans.
