Rahul Chahar celebrates 22nd birthday in the Maldives with fiancée
Rahul Chahar took seven wickets across formats in the recently concluded limited-overs series against Sri Lanka.
India leg-spinner Rahul Chahar made his 22nd birthday a memorable occasion by celebrating in the Maldives. After finishing the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, Chahar got some much-needed break and decided to explore the Maldives along with his fiancée. Apparently, the government has eased a bit on the COVID-19 protocols and hence a lot of celebrities and cricketers are traveling to the island nation for a mini vacation.
Chahar shared a few of his pictures on his official Instagram account, wherein he can be seen a bit relaxed and happy in the company of his partner. Chahar got engaged to his long-time girlfriend in December 2019 and since then has taken her along for a few IPL matches too. The leg-spinner plays for Mumbai Indians and is one of their key bowlers in the spin department.
He will again be seen in action for the franchise when the IPL resumes in the UAE from September 19. But for now, he celebrated his 22nd birthday in style in the Maldives and shared a few pictures along with a fitting caption: “What better birthday can I ask for? #lostinparadise“
The leg-spinner had a good white-ball series against Sri Lanka as he picked up seven wickets across both the formats and impressed one and all by marinating good line and lengths. During the last ODI game against Sri Lanka, he made his maiden ODI appearance and bagged three wickets.
Rahul Chahar set to return in IPL for Mumbai Indians
With Mumbai Indians not having any prominent spinners in their arsenal, the 22-year-old role becomes more vital in containing the runs in the middle-overs and taking wickets. The pitches in the UAE generally assist the spinners more, and Chahar will look to take wickets and help Mumbai Indians win few games.
Chahar had a good performance in IPL 2021, which can make things easier for him as the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is set to be staged in Oman and the UAE. Speaking about Chahar, Aakash Chopra said in his YouTube channel on how the leg-spinner has grabbed his chances.
“Rahul Chahar doesn’t play regularly in the Team India squad since Yuzvendra Chahal is the No. 1 leg-spinner. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar are also other spin options Team India have. Varun Chakravarthy is also trying to make a name as a mystery spinner. But Chahar has grabbed every opportunity that has come his way to play for Team India.”
