Dushmantha Chameera is an important asset of the Sri Lankan side, in the bowling department. Chameera is fast, hits the deck, and also gets movement off the pitch as well.
And, Sri Lankan Head Coach Mickey Arthur offered his thoughts on the right-arm pacer. Arthur was extremely impressed with Chameera and stated that the fast bowler has done an outstanding job.
Arthur also said that India’s Head Coach for the Sri Lankan series, Rahul Dravid has also been impressed with the development of Chameera. Arthur also added that Chameera has been constantly getting better every time.
“Yeah look. He has had a lot of work and I just want to say, Dushmantha Chameera has been outstanding. In my opinion, talking to Rahul Dravid the other night, Rahul has been really impressed with him and his development. Chameera is just getting better and better all the time,” said Arthur in the pre-match press conference ahead of the three-match T20I series between India and Sri Lanka.

Stating that it is nice to think of resting Chameera, Arthur revealed that he told Chameera that he still has just 12 overs to be bowled, and he can take rest for three weeks. Arthur concluded by stating that Chameera has been the spearhead of the Sri Lankan side with the ball in hand.
“It would be nice to think of a rest. I said to him last night, he has got 12 overs to go. 12 overs to go and he can have three weeks off. So, I am hoping that we can get 12 overs out of him, and then he can have a well-deserved break. He has been our spearhead and he has taken that responsibility and run with that responsibility and been extremely good with it,” concluded Arthur.
Sri Lanka will face India in a three-match T20I series that will commence on 25th July 2021. The 2nd and 3rd matches of this series will be played on 27th and 29th July 2021 respectively.
