Ajinkya Rahane, the vice-captain of Team India in Tests has been sidelined from the limited-overs format and is finding it difficult to get back into the side. A sudden dip in his form ruled out him out from the contention and he was not selected in the squad of World Cup 2019. Now, he has opened up saying that he finally accepted the rejection after 2019 World Cup snub.

Rahane made his debut for Team India back in 2011 from the 50-over format. So far he has played 90 ODIs, 20 T20Is and 63 Tests in which he has muscled more than 7,000 international runs. Even though he is performing well in the longer format, his comeback in the limited-overs format is uncertain as he played his last ODI game back on 16th Feb 2018.

Indian Test vice-captain opines on his time after2019 ODI Cricket World Cup snub

Ajinkya Rahane said that sometimes an individual gets so indulge in getting successful they forget everything but at a certain point, they need to stop for self-realisation and reality check. He also did the same after he was not picked by the selectors in the World Cup 2019 squad.

Rahane is in very good space at present and for him, it all started with the series against West Indies. He also added the fact that when he was in England playing for Yorkshire, he learnt lots of things as a cricketer as well as a human being.

He also recited the fact that Rahul Dravid also helped him during his tough days, who told him to keep his batting simple without increasing any complexity and take one game at a time.

“At times, we get too caught up in our pursuit of success and then we suddenly realise that we are required to just stop, sit back and introspect. I did exactly that when I wasn’t selected for the 2019 World Cup. I am in a very good space right now and it started from the West Indies series.

I was in England, playing county cricket where I learnt a lot not only as a cricketer but also as a human being. Conversations with Rahul Bhai (Rahul Dravid) also helped me get those answers that I should keep my batting really simple. Take one game at a time. Be in a positive mindset,” Ajinkya Rahane said as quoted by Outlook India.
