Former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid has been named as coach of the U19 Indian side that will travel to Sri Lanka for the Youth Asia Cup. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had released a statement stating that a 15-man squad would be dispatched from the country to take part in the tournament.

Abhishek Sharma, an all-rounder who has played with the Punjab colts has been named as the skipper for the upcoming tournament. India shared the inaugural Youth Asia Cup trophy in 2012 with arch-rivals Pakistan after the match was tied when the tournament was held in Malaysia.

Earlier this year, the Board had passed a resolution stating that no U19 player can play a World Cup twice, meaning that some of the players such as Washington Sundar could not stake his claim for the upcoming World Cup.
