Anil Kumble is known for his aggression as a leg-spinner. He was someone who would never give up and always played at his best. The recent feud between Kohli and Kumble has sparked a lot of rumours. Maybe one of them was at fault, maybe both of them were. As far as the fans go everyone seems to be pointing fingers at the players.

However, temper and Kumble have a history together. There was a time when the wrist spinner was impossible to handle. If he was angry or upset with someone or something no one would try consoling him because he was very difficult to handle. Everyone knows how passionate Jumbo was as a cricketer. We know his on-field heroics but there are always two sides to the coin.

The Karnataka connection

With that passionate Kumble also came a difficult person to handle. He has a temper which corresponds to his nickname; Jumbo. When he was upset not even senior players like Sachin Tendulkar or Sourav Ganguly could handle him. There was only one guy who could calm him down and that was his Karnataka teammate Rahul Dravid.

Dravid is known for his patience and calmness with the bat in his hand and it turns out he was equally good with other people as well. Anil Kumble was his domestic teammate as well and Rahul knew him inside out. The Economic Times pointed out that the seniors in the team wouldn’t attempt to get in way once Kumble lost his temper but Dravid had a trick or two up his sleeves that could get things back to normal.

Kohli-Kumble saga

Now that there was no Dravid in the dressing room of India, was it the reason behind Kumble-Kohli rift? The truth may never come out but we certainly know there were two very passionate cricketers in that dressing room as they say “two swords cannot be in one sheath”. With Kohli’s emotion on his sleeves personality and Kumble’s temper, things might have gone out of hands.
