He had a top score of 93 in the IPL season for the Supergiant, who finished as the finalists of the tournament this year.
Young Pune batsman Rahul Tripathi is all set to play for the India Pistons in the TNCA Senior Division League. The transfer window for the players in the league will be ending on June 30 this year. Hence, all the participating clubs and the teams of the league are busy finalizing their players for the tournament. The name of Rahul Tripathi comes as one of the biggest attractions of the premier local tournament of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA).
Rahul Tripathi is a dynamic batsman who hails from Pune and is a proven hard hitter of the cricket ball. His batting style and prowess was on display earlier this year during the IPL. Playing for the Rising Pune Supergiant, Rahul Tripathi was an absolute juggernaut at the top of the order. At one stage in the tournament, he had six consecutive scores in excess of 30.
This speaks volumes about his consistency in the shortest format of the game. He was very impressive with the bat and is capable of taking the attack to any opposition. He had a top score of 93 in the season for the Supergiant, who finished as the finalists of the tournament this year. A Jaffer Ashique Ali, the in-charge of cricket operations of India Pistons remarked that Tripathi comes in the side after Jiwanjot Singh opted to bow out of the team. A few more talented players have been roped in the roster.
“We lost opener Jiwanjot Singh, and thus roped in Tripathi as a professional. He’s an exciting prospect, and is sure to bring more fans to the ground. Rajwinder Singh, who picked up 48 wickets last season, has been retained. Nidish Rajagopal, a budding youngster, has also been roped in,” said A Jaffer Ashique Ali as per theq quotes in The New Indian Express.
Other significant changes
Among the other teams, Jolly Rovers and Alwarpet CC – run by Sanmar Group, made a few changes as well. Jayant Yadav and Ankeet Bawne will continue to play for them and Jiwanjot is the new addition to the side. “Jayant Yadav and Ankeet Bawne will continue to play for us. Jiwanjot is the new addition. Sandeep Sharma is also in the process of signing for Jolly Rovers,” said Bharath Reddy, cricket in-charge of Sanmar Group.
