Rajasthan Royals (RR) have eight wins in 13 league matches of IPL 2022 and have qualified for the playoffs of IPL 2022. If they win their ongoing fixture against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the Royals will book the second spot in the points table and gain an advantage in the playoffs. In a latest interaction, the former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta shared his views on the form of the Royals this season.

Dasgupta thinks that the Royals have been patchy in the last few games due to the lack of form of the opener Jos Buttler. He also said that the form of their middle-order will be crucial for them to get two important points. Meanwhile, Buttler perished for two off five balls against CSK.

“Their form has been patchy due to the fact that Jos Buttler has not performed well in the last two league matches. Although Samson is doing all right, the batting has looked a little light with their performances. But it is high time for Jos and the team to do well and seal the first two spots with a win. You also want your main players to go in with confidence in the playoffs,” said Dasgupta on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket’ Show on CricTracker.

Shimron Hetmyer has been crucial for Rajasthan Royals: Deep Dasgupta

Dasgupta mentioned that Shimron Hetmyer has scored the most runs (210) for the Royals in the death overs at a strike rate of 210, with 19 sixes, which has helped the team to gain the upper hand at the back of the innings. In RR’s ongoing fixture against CSK, the Caribbean batter has returned to the playing XI, after he went home for the birth of his first child.

“Even though he has not played enough games in the IPL, I think he has scored the most runs for the Royals in the death overs. It tells you a lot about his form and his importance in the RR playing XI. As we have talked that top-order of Royals has not fired much, the return of Hetmyer is crucial for the team,” Dasgupta added.
