Rajeev Shukla led GC to meet tomorrow to discuss on further T20 events
Rajeev Shukla led GC to meet tomorrow to discuss on further T20 events: After the suspension of IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League will have their first meet on Sunday to discuss the outcome of the issue. The GC is also expected to take further new resolution regarding the T20 events in India.
The 12 member Governing Council is headed by IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla, followed by some big cricketing names in Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri. They are expected to delve deep into the finer points of the strong judgment issued a few days ago by three-member Supreme Court-appointed panel headed by former Chief Justice of India, R M Lodha.
The IPL franchises CSK and Rajasthan Royals have been terminated for a period of two years following illegal activities in the game by the Supreme Court’s constituted Lodha Committee. The punishment was slated betting activities of their key officials Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra during the 2013 season. Meiyappan, the former Team Principal of CSK, and Kundra, co-owner of the Rajasthan Royals, were suspended for life for indulging in betting and bringing the IPL and the game into disrepute.
The Rajeev Shukla Led council will take further note on settlement of the teams to be included in the next season of the Cash-rich Indian Premier League. Also with quite a few options in front of it to resurrect the falling reputation and credibility of the league which has taken one hit after another over the years since it started with a bang in 2008.
The IPL GC must look to make clear decisions in making the gentlemen’s game more honest and truthful to the blind followers of the game.
