Rajyavardhan Rathore believes the stone-throwing incident is not a proper reflective of the security measures
Rajyavardhan also spoke to the CM of Assam about the incident.
The visiting Australian side finally managed to show their real strengths and dominance in the second T20I against India in Guwahati. The Aussies secured an incredible win against the hosts after a great bowling performance by the left-arm pacer Jason Behrendorff. The Barsapara Cricket Stadium hosted its first-ever international game and the people came in huge number to watch the exciting game of cricket. However, the disgraceful incident where the Australian team bus was attacked with stones after the game is the prime talking point of discussion which brings the security measures under the scanner.
After a great day at the field in the second T20I, the Aussies experienced a terrifying incident while their way from the stadium to the team hotel. A rock was thrown at the window of the Australian team bus and that shattered the glass though no injuries have been reported it left the players in shock. The Sports Minister of India, Rajyavardhan Rathore stated that this incident is not a proper reflective of the security measures.
India still remains a graceful host
Even though the huge crowd didn’t witness a great performance from the Men in Blue, they were patience and calmness throughout the game. But an incident like this can tarnish the image of a cricket loving nation like India.
“Guwahati stone-throwing incident NOT reflective of our security measures. Aus [Australia] team & FIFA are content w/those [with those]. India remains a graceful host,” Rathore wrote on Twitter.
India is also hosting the U17 FIFA World Cup, which is a major event and the security measures are expected to be top notch with all major teams participating in the tournament. The sports minister also revealed that he also had a talk with the Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbanand Sonawal regarding the stone-throwing incident.
“Have spoken to @sarbanandsonwal ji about the Guwahati incident. Personal security of visiting athletes & teams is extremely important for us,” he added.
