Pakistan are the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) number-one ranked T20I team and they won 11 consecutive series in the format. However, they couldn’t carry on with their winning momentum in their erstwhile T20I series against South Africa. The national team didn’t have the services of their regular skipper in wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed and the veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik captained the team.
Pakistan fought hard in both Durban and Johannesburg, but couldn’t get over the line in both of them. Subsequently, they conceded a 2-0 lead to the opposition and the last match at the SuperSport Park in Centurion is nothing but a dead rubber. In the previous match at The New Wanderers Stadium, the Proteas racked up a mammoth 188 runs and the visiting team fell short by seven runs.
Raja’s precious advise for Shinwari
Among the Pakistan bowlers, Usman Shinwari and Hasan Ali went for a lot of runs. Shinwari didn’t get a wicket and ended up leaking 63 runs in his four overs to become Pakistan’s most expensive bowler in the T20I format. Hasan Ali also went for 48 runs in his spell and even he couldn’t pick up a wicket.
In the meantime, Ramiz Raja, the former Pakistan cricketer, feels that the target was a bit too high for the visitors to chase down. He also mentioned that Ali and Shinwari tried to crank up the face and thereby goofed up their line and length. Moreover, Raza advised Shinwari to eat beans in his diet
He took to Twitter and wrote, “It’s going to be tough chasing anything over 155. Fast bowlers Shinwari and Hassan Ali needed tactics than muscle on this slow track. Think Shinwari should go easy on his Lobiya diet (beans) Both tried to bowl too fast and length and got pinned!!,”
