Ramiz Raja, who happens to be the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), recently spoke about raising the standard of cricket in the country. He mentioned the fact that several steps are being taken to improve the facilities of the sport in Pakistan.
On Wednesday, while he was addressing a press conference in Karachi, the former Pakistan cricketer said that international standard pitches will be established in schools and clubs. He even went on to say that the PCB will be training a hundred children, for which, they will be paid thirty thousand rupees on a monthly basis.
Last but not the least, he also ensured that standard coaching will be provided to the new generation. Ever since he became PCB chairman, the 59-year-old has attempted to improve the cricketing quality of the Asian nation. As a matter of fact, a report by the Times of India last month stated that he was unhappy with the National High-Performance Centre in Lahore. Thus, he aims to work on the cricketing standards of Pakistan.
International cricket is coming to Pakistan: Ramiz Raja
Raja even promised that international cricket will return to the country. While there weren’t too many international cricket matches taking place in Pakistan due to well-documented reasons, several big teams are all set to tour the nation in 2022.
While the West Indies did come for a limited-overs tour, which originally comprised of three T20Is and the same number of ODIs, the 50-over series, unfortunately, got postponed. Australia, on the other hand, are all set to tour Pakistan in March 2022. They will not only be playing a Test series but will also play a limited-overs series. The Aussies will be touring Pakistan for the first time since 1998.
In the meanwhile, PCB recently announced that New Zealand will be touring them as well. Pakistan will face them between December 2022 and January 2023 for two Tests. This Test series will be a part of the World Test Championship too. The Kiwis will then return to the country in April 2023, for a limited-overs series, which will consist of five ODIs, as well as five T20Is. However, in this instance, the limited-overs series will be solely for ICC rankings points and not a part of the ODI Super League.
