Ramiz Raja wants Pakistan players to solely focus on cricket and not on PCB matters
Ramiz Raja wants Pakistan team to play a fearless brand of cricket.
Expected chairman of the Pakistan cricket team Ramiz Raja has a crystal-clear message to its players and wants them to focus purely on cricket, and not on other matters, which are related to changes in Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Apparently, a meeting was held between Raja and the players at the National High-Performance Centre in Lahore, wherein the former Pakistan captain shared his vision and roadmap for the next few years.
During the meeting, even interim coaches Abdul Razzaq and Saqlain Mushtaq were present. Few reports had surfaced of how few players were not happy with the management and their subsequent conduct in cricket. Also, this led to a poor performance from the team.
Ehsan Mani, the current PCB chairman, too expressed his desire to step down, following which Raja was nominated for the role by Patron Imran Khan in the PCB BoG. He will officially be elected as the chairman on September 13. The cricketer-turned expert also had requested for the meeting, and he shared his thoughts on the cricket being played by Pakistan.
“The team is being provided with a great cricketing environment. You can play cricket fearlessly. Modern cricket requires you to be aggressive,” Raja told Geo News.
The nominee added: “Dominate the game from the start. This is modern-day cricket, and you have to play accordingly.”
Raja further opined that each player’s role will be defined, and there will be clear communication going ahead.
“You have to adapt to the new game, and it is not difficult, we are all here to guide you all, he said, adding that cricket coaches will train you accordingly, they will define the role of each player and “no unnecessary changes will be made, no one’s role will be changed”.
“Continuity will be seen, which is very important in today’s cricket.”
I have high hopes from the squad selected for the T20 World Cup: Ramiz Raja
The former Pakistan captain also felt that he has high hopes from the squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. He felt the players have enough potential to perform.
“I have high hopes from the same squad all the players give their 100% in the World Cup, the upcoming series is important, you are all talented, you have a lot of potential.”
Raja concluded by saying that Pakistan can improve its rankings by performing well in future games. “It has to be improved by performance,” he maintained.
