Rangpur Riders appoint Tom Moody as head coach

While Tom Moody may still be in the race for becoming the next coach of the Indian Cricket Team, he has already been appointed as the head coach of another team. It has been learnt that the Bangladesh Premier League franchise, the Rangpur Riders have appointed Tom Moody as their coach. Ahead of the fifth edition of the league, all its franchises are now busy with the selection of the team and the support staff.
Tom Moody, who is currently the head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League is going to take up the post with the Rangpur Riders and he will be working with the team for the upcoming three years. The chief executive of Rangpur Riders confirmed this news, reported bdcrictime.
Ishtiaq Sadek, the chief executive of Rangpur Riders confirmed the news while giving an interview to Ekattor TV. He said, “We are signing an agreement with Tom Moody for the upcoming three years.” He also spoke about their target in the upcoming edition of BPL. “Initially our target is to remain in the top fours. It would be too much, if we are now telling that we will play in final,” he added.
Four overseas players signed
He also said that their budget is around 12-15 crore for this year. Earlier bdcrictime also reported that the franchise has signed four overseas players for the upcoming edition which will commence on November 4. The four players that are signed are West Indies’ Samuel Badree and Johnson Charles, England’s Ravi Bopara and Sri Lanka’s Thisara Perera.
It can be noted that Badree claimed a hat-trick for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tenth edition of the India Premier League after which he has been attracting a lot of attention from other domestic leagues of the world. The final and complete player draft for this edition will be held on September 16.
