The 9th round of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 came to an end on Saturday. A narrow 4 run loss for Delhi against Saurashtra saw them bow out of the race for the quarter-finals. Earlier, Maharashtra had crashed out of the race on day 3 when Karnataka steamrolled them in a one-sided game. Chasing 275 for the win, Delhi bundled out for 271. Saurya Sanandiya bagged 5 wickets for Saurashtra to help them secure a narrow win.

Himachal Pradesh also ensured a comprehensive win over Goa by 7 wickets. Misal’s twin ton in both the innings for Goa went in vain. Vidarbha needed 187 to win on the final day on a low scoring surface. They managed to scamper through and registered a key win against Rajasthan. No other matches could yield results on the final day of the round 9.

Kushank Gandhi scored a double ton for Tamil Nadu against Gujarat in a match which could not go beyond the second innings. Shreyas Iyer’s ton helped Mumbai secure a draw against Punjab. Sachin Baby scored an unbeaten 250 for Kerala in a drawn game against Services.
