Round 3 of the Ranji Trophy 2016/17 witnessed maximum draws as only a handful of games reached the conclusion after four day’s play. Bengal captain, Manoj Tiwary led the batting charge of his team on the last day scoring 92 runs. It was his knock that helped them beat Punjab by 155 runs. It was Sayan Mondal for his century in the first innings was awarded the man of the match. In a group C contest, Haryana skipper Mohit Sharma with a five-wicket haul led his side to a splendid 161-run win over Ranji Trophy debutants Chhattisgarh in Guwahati. Mohit for his match haul of 9 wickets was awarded the player of the match.

Sourabh Tiwary’s Jharkhand beat Rajasthan by runs in another group C encounter as left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem picked a seven-wicket haul in the first innings and grabbed another 4 wickets in the second knock to give key blows to the opposition. He was rightly awarded the man of the match for his superb bowling show.
