Ranji Trophy 2018-19, Quarterfinals, Day 5: Round-up

Vidarbha, Kerala, Saurashtra and Karnataka are the four semi-finalists of the Ranji Trophy 2018-19. After putting up a terrific fight throughout the game, Uttarakhand succumbed on the final day of play. With Umesh Yadav and Aditya Sarwate breathing fire with the ball in hand, the side lost the last five wickets for just seven runs.

Both Yadav and Sarwate picked up five-wicket hauls in the match helping their team bag a massive win. The defending champions won the game by an innings and 115 runs to make an entry into the semis where they’ll take Kerala on. For his nine-wicket haul, Umesh Yadav was declared the ‘Man of the Match’.

In the other game, it was just a matter of time before Saurashtra chased down the remaining 177 runs. Harvik Desai, who was unbeaten on 83 on day-4 successfully got to his century and put up 116 runs on the board before he got out. Cheteshwar Pujara and Sheldon Jackson with an unbeaten 67 and 73 runs respectively saw the team sail over the finishing line. Moreover, 372 is the highest successful chase by any team in Ranji Trophy history. Saurashtra will face Karnataka in the second semi-final of the Ranji Trophy.
