Ranji Trophy 2018-19, Round 1, Day 4: Round up

All the teams tried extremely hard to push for a result on the last day of Round 1 of the Ranji Trophy 2018-19. While a few sides battled extremely hard to end the game in a draw, some others couldn’t and surrendered. Most of the teams ended up sharing the points equally between them. However, it was Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh who went the extra mile and got those critical six points right at the start of the season.

By registering an innings win, UP managed to grab that extra point as well. Ankit Rajpoot looked impressive with a 5-wicket haul helping them register this massive win against Goa which was always on cards. As we know, all the Plate group games had yielded results by the end of day 3.

An unbeaten 112 from skipper Priyank Panchal ensured that Gujarat got over the line against Baroda. Rush Kalaria went on to register figures of 6/35 in the same game. Despite a valiant effort from Parvez Rasool, who hit an unbeaten 110, Jammu & Kashmir couldn’t escape a loss. He was the lone warrior for his team in the 2nd innings along with Irfan Pathan who scored a fifty.

Mumbai’s Aditya Tare, Tamil Nadu’s skipper Baba Indrajith, Jharkhand’s skipper Ishan Kishan, Odisha’s skipper Biplap Samantray, Tripura’s Udiyan Bose were the men who registered their centuries on the day.
