The knockouts of the 2019-2020 season of the Ranji Trophy are in progress full fledge. Saurashtra who finished fourth on the points table (Group A and B combined) with 31 points are facing Andhra who finished fifth on the same points table. The two teams are battling it out at the CSR Sharma College Ground in Ongole.

However, a weird incident took place during the third day’s play. We’ve seen there have been multiple external objects stopping play in India. There have been cars parked in the middle of the pitch. There’s a game that’s stopped due to direct sunlight striking the players’ eye and there are many more such incidents. But this was another absurd one.

A few cows decided to take a stroll down the CSR Sharma College Ground. They invaded the pitch and the ground staff were running behind them to chase them away. The players were bamboozled as well as to what was happening on the field. The unique and weird incident also went viral on social media with the term ‘cow corner’ being used.

Cow corner is a term that’s commonly used by commentators to describe a position on the field. It is the position between long on and deep mid-wicket and often, batsmen are found slogging to cow corner.

Saurashtra in a commanding position

Saurashtra won four games in the group stages of the 2019-20 season of the Ranji Trophy. In their last three games, they managed to win one against Baroda and take a first innings lead against Mumbai and Tamil Nadu to end the group stages with 31 points.

In the quarter-final, the Jaydev Unadkat-led side have dominated once again. After opting to bat first, they put on 419 runs on the board with Chirag Jani scoring a fine 121. Skipper Unadkat took 4/42 and led from the front as Saurashtra bowled Andhra out for 136 and took a 283-run lead. Saurashtra opted against enforcing the follow-on and are batting again. They are 93/2 and have a lead of 376 runs and are calling all the shots at the moment.
