Ranji Trophy 2022: MP skipper given just two-days leave for wedding by coach Chandrakant Pandit
'I told them for success, you need to put in long hours of hard work,' said Pandit.
Madhya Pradesh head coach Chandrakant Pandit, following the team’s win in the Ranji Trophy on June 26, Sunday, revealed that he allowed captain Aditya Shrivastava to take only two off days for his wedding. On the other hand, Shrivastava light-heartedly said that he has not even taken a 10-day vacation since getting married last year.
The Madhya Pradesh head coach said that he told his players it requires long hours of hard work and a lot of sacrifices to achieve success. Speaking about the team’s campaign in the domestic season, he said that lifting this trophy among all others was special. The last time Madhya Pradesh made the final in the competition was in 1999 when Pandit was the captain which they lost at the same venue to Karnataka.
“Every trophy gives satisfaction but this one is special. I couldn’t do it as an MP captain years back (23 years). All these years, I have always felt that I had left something back over here. That’s the reason I am a bit more excited and emotional about it,” Pandit was quoted as saying by News 18.
Chandrakant Pandit is so serious about his work: Aditya Shrivastava
“To reach the top, one has to make sacrifices. When Aditya was getting married last year, he came to me and asked what should be a good time and I told him that I can only release him for festivities for a period of two days,” said Pandit.
“I got married last year but I haven’t even taken a 10-day vacation with my wife,” said Aditya. “I told them for success, you need to put in long hours of hard work. It is like a mission,” remarked the Madhya Pradesh head coach. Pandit also hailed the ground staff,: “You people have produced an excellent wicket and this is special as it is the 100th first-class game at this venue.”
“First thing I will tell sir is to laugh out loud. He is so serious about his work and he is ready to talk cricket whenever you want,” said Shrivastava. Madhya Pradesh completed an easy win in the Ranji Trophy final over 41-time champions Mumbai. They dominated throughout the match as they took a lead of 162 going into the second innings, and completed a chase of 108 in 29.5 overs.
