5. Shane Watson (RCB)
Shane Watson’s glorious years in the IPL have only come with the RR and the CSK franchise. The cricketer in his debut IPL season was a formidable force who singlehandedly by scoring a total of 472 runs had helped RR to bag its first IPL title. While the all-rounder had received an exclusion from the RR team after the IPL 2015, the RCB franchise had then bagged the Aussie for a whopping amount of INR 9.5 Crore.
Now while especially playing for RCB in IPL 2016, Watson was given an alien role of batting in the middle-order that eventually had just made him average around 13 in that season. Although Watson had played all IPL games, the Aussie never had looked at its pleasant best. In fact, his strike rate in the 2017 season had fallen below 100 that also made him dreadfully just average around 11. Hence, by the time when the 2018 mega IPL auction had come, Watson had already received an omission from the red army.
However, with the yellow army then making a vigorous comeback in the IPL 2018, the Aussie all-rounder was immediately signed for INR 4 Crore which in many ways also turned to be a fruitful affair for CSK. Overall, while the RCB franchise perhaps had endured one of its dreadful IPL seasons in 2018, Watson had soared CSK to its third IPL glory, by heavily scoring a total of 555 runs from his 15 games at a commendable average of close to 40.
