Joe Root is one of the finest players that English cricket has witnessed. The level of composure and class that he showed while walking into the game at a very young age helped him earn a permanent place in the then Alastair Cook-led team as an all-rounder.

He impressed everyone with his performance and soon sealed his place in the team across all formats. His consistency with the bat and the ball helped him earn England‘s captaincy after Alastair Cook decided to step down.

Throughout his decade-long career, Root has played 118 Test matches scoring 9900 runs at an average of 49.01. In the 152 ODI matches, he has smashed 6109 runs at a fine average of 51.34 and has amassed 893 runs in the 32 T20Is at a decent average of 35.72.
