4. Lasith Malinga
Undoubtedly the greatest bowler in the history of the league, Lasith Malinga has been one of the pillars of the IPL for a long time. He recently announced retirement from franchise cricket, which means the last ball he bowled was the yorker against CSK in 2019 final to clinch the title. That moment alone should be enough to prove how big a matchwinner he was.
He is the leading wicket-taker having taken 170 wickets in 122 games at a strike rate of 16.62. Malinga’s economy rate of 7.14 is outstanding given the fact that he usually bowls during the tough overs. The former Mumbai Indians bowler even has a Purple Cap to his name.
He has picked up 15 or more wickets in each season barring the 2017 edition. He has won 6 MOM awards and has 4 IPL titles, which definitely makes him one of the biggest matchwinners.
