Alex Carey had always been highly regarded by South Australia at age-group levels. He used to play football in his teenage days. In 2016-17 Sheffield Shield, he took 57 catches and committed two stumpings. He is currently the vice-captain of the Australian cricket team in limited-overs cricket. He debuted in Test cricket during the Ashes 2021-22.

He has played four Test matches in which he has 110 runs to his name which includes a fifty. In 45 ODI matches, he has scored 1203 runs at an average of 36.45. In the shortest format, he has 233 runs to his name in 38 matches. The left-handed batter looks elegant when he plays in off-side. He is also a captaincy material whom Australia can consider.

He has taken 14 catches in just seven innings in Test cricket. He has 51 catches in ODIs and 19 catches in T20Is. He is now the first option for wicket-keeping for Australia in each format. He is only 30 years old and has a lot of cricket left in him. Hopefully, he will serve Australia as a wicket-keeper for a long time.
