The leading wicket-taker in T20Is in 2021, Wanindu Hasaranga remained the best throughout the year. He is a solid leg-break bowler and he is carrying the load of the Sri Lankan bowling lineup on his shoulders. 2021 has been his year. He was even handy with the bat.

In 20 T20Is, Hasaranga took 36 wickets with an unbelievable bowling average of 11.64. He was very good in the home series against India and even the former Indian cricketers were very much impressed by him. He was the highest wicket-taker in ICC T20 World Cup 2021 too picking 16 wickets in eight games. He scored a total of 671 international runs in 2021 with the highest score of 80*.

He also got the chance of playing in the second phase of IPL 2021 as an injury replacement. 2021 has been the best year for him. With the Sri Lankan team struggling, he is seen as a promising player who will take Sri Lankan cricket to new heights.
