KL Rahul had just started to enjoy his stay with team India in the last few months before the Coronavirus pandemic suspended all the cricketing action. He had sealed his place in the India’s limited-overs sides as the wicketkeeper-batsman and was in good form with the bat as well. He was supposed to lead the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the IPL for the first time as well.
But on his 28th birthday, he was at home quarantined accepting wishes on social media. Also on the occasion of the special day, his dear friend Mayank Agarwal decided to go live on Instagram with the birthday boy himself and the duo had a lot of fun during the conversation.
However, during the session, when Mayank told Rahul that he will ask some quick questions now in a rapid fire round, the latter cheekily recalled the infamous Koffee with Karan controversy which had put him and Hardik Pandya in trouble for their misogynist comments on national television.
“You know rapid-fire always burns me, right? I get burnt in the fire,” KL Rahul said after which Mayank was in splits and couldn’t control his laughter.
@mayankcricket : So its gonna be like a rapid fire round..@klrahul11 : You know rapid fire always burns me right.. I get burnt in the fire.. π ππ

What was the controversy?
Talking about the controversy, both KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya were the guests on the chat show Koffee with Karan which is hosted by Karan Johar. In the show, during a similar rapid fire round, both the cricketers funnily came up with some comments which weren’t really kind and when the episode was aired on television in the first week of January 2019, it caused ruckus.
Team India was in Australia then and the ODI series was set to commence on January 12 when the BCCI decided to suspend both KL Rahul and Hardik. Their World Cup ambitions were also in danger but soon the matter cleared up as the duo gave an unconditonal apology to the board.
Since then, both the players have concentrated on their game and have refrained from commenting on any such thing which would put them in trouble. Moreover, they also admit that the incident has taught them a lot.
