The qualifier 2 of the Caribbean Premier League saw some massive sixes and spectacular work on the field but the that stood out was the heated glare by Rashid Khan, when Colin Munro attempted a reverse sweep off him. Afghanistan’s promising spinner, who bagged the lone hat-trick in this year’s CPL was fired up, as it was a knockout game for the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The Warriors made 159/6 in their 20 overs, as Sunil Narine and his company put brakes off the batters with some economical display of bowling. Chasing 160 to win, The Trinbago Knight Riders side were lifted by some fierce hitting by New Zealand international Colin Munro. The left-handed batsman smacked seven boundaries and remained unbeaten during the course of the chase.

Rashid and Munro involved in a heated scenario

During the 4th over of the chase, Munro attempted a reverse sweep off Khan. Munro managed to connect well but it found the fielder, hence no runs were scored off that delivery. But that was not the end. Khan didn’t really appreciate the particular shot played by Munro, and almost walked down the pitch to have a word with him. There were glares, as Khan looked pretty furious. Munro, on the other hand, looked cool as a cucumber, he meant business and didn’t really react to the spinner.

Skipper credits Munro’s match winning knock

Post the game, skipper Dwayne Bravo lauded Munro’s innings and the overall show, as they reached the CPL finals. He said “It went well [strategy to use 8 bowlers]. I trusted my gut feeling. I realized the wicket was flat and there wasn’t much movement, so I had to change the bowlers around. I was satisfied chasing 159. Some people might have thought we gave 15-20 too much, but we were happy. Gajanand and Primus did well but we were happy. Our batting shuffle worked tonight, we’re going to back Narine and Munro at the top. No disrespect to the other teams, but the two best teams are in the final. People are going to come in numbers and we’ll need their support. It’s gonna be entertaining. I’m looking forward to it.”
