Rashid Khan imitates MS Dhoni, plays a unique 'reverse helicopter shot'

Afghanistan’s star all-rounder Rashid Khan hogged the limelight once again as he played a unique helicopter shot. It is cognisance of the fact that MS Dhoni’s helicopter shot is one of the famous shots among cricket fans across the world. Whenever a player pulls off this type of shot, comparisons are certain to happen.

Earlier, India’s big-hitting all-rounder Hardik Pandya played the helicopter shot multiple times and sent the fans into a frenzy. Likewise, it was Rashid Khan’s turn to add spice to his batting as he waited for the perfect opportunity to execute the shot.

Although he was not able to match MS Dhoni’s trademark helicopter shot, he reinvented his own version of the shot. A conventional helicopter shot usually goes on towards the leg side around the mid-wicket and long-on but Rashid Khan’s shot went over third man fence which led to users calling it a “reverse helicopter shot”.

The all-rounder posted a video of himself playing the flamboyant shot which spread like wildfire across all social media platforms. Besides sharing the video on Twitter, Rashid Khan had asked his fans whether they would recognize this as a helicopter shot. “Do you call it a helicopter?? I think soo,” Rashid Khan wrote. Meanwhile, his teammate Hamid Hassan replied to his post and named his unique shot which is “ninja cut”.

Rashid’s video clip was also shared by his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Twitter. The 21-year-old prospect had last played a competitive match for Adelaide Strikers in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) on February 1. As a result, it can’t be determined how old is the video.

Rashid Khan who is primarily a bowling weapon with his crafty left-spin bowling also makes fruitful contributions batting the order as well. As far as the Big Bash League is concerned, Rashid Khan played several explosive knocks with tricky shots.

During a BBL match between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades, Rashid displayed a new bat design which later became famous as “Camel Bat”. Afghanistan will host Ireland for a three-match ODI series between March 6 and 10 in Greater Noida. Post the international assignment, the star Afghanistan all-rounder will be one of the major attractions in the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
