Rashid Khan lauds Samiullah Shenwari for his breathtaking knock of 192*
Shenwari single-handedly won the game for his team while chasing 347 runs.
Afghanistan cricket has always been on an upward spiral since then they have started playing the game. They have shown immense improvement and also earned the well-deserved Test status last year from the International Cricket Council. Rashid Khan has been the vital cog in their progress so are the likes of Mohammad Nabi, Mohammad Shahzad to name a few. This time around another senior pro Samiullah Shenwari has hogged the limelight for his sensational knock.
The 30-year-old played a brilliant inning of 192 runs off just 123 balls in the ongoing Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament in Kabul on Wednesday. He is representing Speen Ghar Region in the game as they were facing a daunting challenge from Amo Region who posted a total of 346/7 in 50 overs.
In reply, Speen Ghar were lagging behind in the game at 64/4 in the 13th over and there were no hopes of them winning the game. But Shenwari had other ideas as he launched a counter-attack on the opposition which worked superbly. His stroke-filled knock included 16 fours and a massive 11 sixes. He remained unbeaten until the end and sealed the chase heroically in the last over of the game.
He was well supported by Mohammad Ishaq as they added an unbeaten stand of 186 runs off 106 balls. Ishaq scored 36 off the similar number of deliveries and played second fiddle to his partner throughout the partnership.
