Rashid Khan has quickly risen from a teenage prodigy into an outstanding leg-spinner for Afghanistan. The 22-year-old is one of the best spinners going around the world due to his short, quick-ram action. Still, the batters from various countries find picking his variations difficult.

Not only for Afghanistan but Rashid is the most sought-after name in various franchise cricket leagues too due to his brilliant and economical bowling. He has so far played in the Indian Premier League, Pakistan Super League, Big Bash League, and Caribbean Premier League.

He was last seen in the 14th edition of IPL playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). After the tournament got suspended, Rashid got to spend some time with his family and also his loyal fans on social media. The spin magician, like many fellow cricketers, had a Question & Answer session with his fans in which he was asked numerous questions ranging from his favorite pastime to one good memory from his cricketing career.

One such fan came up with an interesting question and asked him to choose one batter from the previous era which he would have like to bowl. Rashid Khan answered “Sachin Sir.”

Rashid Khan’s huge strides in Afghanistan and franchise cricket

In his short career so far, the leg-spinner has picked up 269 wickets across formats often helping Afghanistan to win matches single-handedly. His exploits with the ball for his country soon made him a hot property in many T20 leagues and he’s one of the important players for both SRH and Adelaide Strikers.

It’s not only the white-ball formats that he has spun a web, in Test cricket too he has worked his magic by scalping 34 wickets in just five Test matches. In a last red-ball match against Zimbabwe, the Afghanistan star spinner bowled a marathon 99.2 overs and picked up 11 wickets in searing heat in Abu Dhabi. His monumental effort was the highest ever a bowler bowled in the 21st century surpassing legendary cricketer Shane Warne’s 98 overs.

Rashid will next be seen in action in England’s newly formed 100-ball tournament The Hundred tournament followed by the Caribbean Premier League in West Indies.
