Rashid Khan reveals his next two dreams
"I'm looking forward to playing in BBL if I get a chance," Rashid said.
Young Afghan Rashid Khan has been a revelation of sorts not just for the Sunrisers Hyderabad but for the Indian Premier League as a whole. With skill and maturity defying his age, the leg-spinner has time and again been instrumental for his team, and will be very crucial in the knockout stage as well, if Hyderabad are to make it there.
But Rashid’s dreams are not confined to the IPL. He has two other Australian dreams as well. He wants to play in the Big Bash League, and also wants to meet his idol, Shane Warne. The leggie created history by becoming the first player from his country to play in the IPL when he was picked up by the defending champions at the auction for Rs 4 crore. He has been worth every penny invested in him, taking 14 wickets at 22.35.
Bond with teammates
Rashid has developed a close bond with teammates Moises Henriques and David Warner, along with coaches Simon Helmot and Tom Moody. Perhaps that is why he wants BBL to be his next assignment.
“It is wonderful to be with Australian players and discussing cricket — and even them talking about Australia is good listening,” he said.
He further went on to say that he dreams of playing in the BBL, and make history again by becoming the first Afghanistan player to feature in the Australian T20 league.
“My dream is to play Big Bash. I would love to be the first Afghani to play in the Big Bash,” he told foxsports.com.au in Hyderabad.
“I’m looking forward to playing in BBL if I get a chance. I have performed well so far in the IPL and hopefully that will help me be part of Big Bash.”
He then also spoke about his idol Shane Warne, his wish to meet him and that he has never spoken to him. “I have not talked with him (Warne) so far but I have heard he has talked about my bowling,” Rashid concluded.
