Team Afghanistan registered a thoroughly clinical win against the Bangladeshi side in the first T20I of the three-match series. The match was the first international game at the venue in Dehradun. It was indeed surprising to see the fans come out in large numbers for the game despite the fact that it was not an India game. The star Afghanistani player, Rashid Khan, thanked the fans for their support in the game.
After the game, Rashid took to social media to come up with a story thanking the fans for their support. Earlier, even the Afghanistani skipper Asghar Stanikzai had thanked the crowd for their support in the game. In the match, Rashid Khan was the star performer for his side. He bagged two wickets on the first two balls of his spell. He accounted for the dismissals of Mushfiqur Rahim and Sabbir Rahman.
He eventually finished with figures of 3/13 in the three overs that he bowled on the day. Rashid was awarded the Player of the Match for his heroics in the game. At the post-match presentation, he had credited the IPL for the success of the Afghanistani spinners. He remarked that the tournament gave their spinners an ideal exposure before the international assignment.
“It was about keeping everything simple, what I’ve done in last two-three months. I don’t have any specific plan. I keep it simple. Just to bowl little bit back of a length, not too full. I’m just enjoying myself, that is the key thing. It was a good surface, the ball was gripping, little bit dew was there. We have just played IPL. That’s the biggest stage. If you perform well there, it gives you the confidence,” Rashid Khan had quoted after the game.
Here is what Rashid Khan had to say after the game:
“First match MOM. Well done boys. Thanks to all fans in Dehradun who came in large number for support. Love you all,” Rashid Khan wrote in his social media update.
