Rashid Khan thanks the Dehradun crowd after series win over Bangladesh
Rashid bagged the Man of the Match awards in both the matches played thus far.
Team Afghanistan registered an emphatic 6 wicket win over Bangladesh in the second T20I of the three-match series. With the win, they now have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. One of the chief architects of the historic series win for Afghanistan was Rashid Khan. The young leggie continued his good run with the ball to break the back of the Bangladesh batting lineup.
He returned with magnificent figures of 4/12 in the four overs that he bowled in the game. This included a brilliant 16th over in the innings which was bowled by him. In the over, he bagged three wickets that triggered the Bangladeshi collapse in the match. He was rewarded the Man of the Match for his herculean effort with the ball.
Interestingly, even in the first T20I, he was the star performer with the ball for his side. In that game, also played in Dehradun, Rashid Khan had bagged 3/13 in the three overs that he bowled. His brilliant spell had fetched him a Man of the Match award in that game as well. Needless to concede, Rashid is bagging wickets at an alarming rate and even the ICC knows it.
After the recent win, Rashid took to Twitter to express his delight over the series win. He then took the opportunity to thank the fans in Dehradun who turned up in huge numbers for the match. Dehradun is acting as the home venue for Afghanistan in the series. And they are delighted to see such good crowds for their matches. This series win goes down as the first ever home series win for Afghanistan in the format of the game.
Here is the post that Rashid Khan shared:
“Good series win over Bangladesh in 3 t20 series Pleased to get 2 MoM awards thanks everyone fans around the world specially to Dehradun People who came in large number for support @MohammadNabi007 @ACBofficials @AsgharStanikzai,” Rashid Khan wrote in his tweet.
