Rashid Khan has been scaling new heights in the shortest format of the game with his mystery spin over the last couple of years now. He is very hard to be picked for the batsmen, especially for the teams and players outside Asia, and no wonder he has continued to bag a lot of success in the early part of his career. The leggie has now been playing in the T20 leagues all over the world and made his debut in the T20 Blast the other night for Sussex.

The youngster has played well for Afghanistan as well an was key in them getting the Test status last year along with Ireland. Though he was not able to replicate a similar performance in their debut game in whites against India, Rashid will learn to bowl with the red ball going forward. As of now, he is already being touted as a legend in T20s and is set to weave his magic in England domestic T20 tournament which commenced on Thursday.

Brilliant debut for the leggie

There was a buzz about Rashid Khan joining the ranks of Sussex Sharks for this tournament and it is no surprise that he straightaway made an impact in his first-ever match for them. His team managed to post a mammoth total of 181 runs while batting first after winning the toss on the back of a half-century of Laurie Evans and Michael Burgess.

But they needed a solid bowling effort to restrict their opposition Essex who had T20 experts in their line-up. Rashid doesn’t need the second invitation to step up to the task as he bowled his four overs beautifully and kept the batsmen guessing throughout. He has become the X-factor for whichever team he plays and he lived up to the reputation.

The leggie marked his debut with the key wickets of Ravi Bopara and Varun Chopra as he conceded only 25 runs in his spell. He bowled at crucial junctures of the game and came up with the breakthroughs at the right time for Sussex. The final nail in the coffin of the chase for Essex was the wicket of Chopra who was batting well but he was foxed by the leg-spin of Rashid and was castled.
