3. Delhi Capitals (6.5/10)
The only franchise in the entire line-up of the Indian Premier League 2020, that has not played a Final of the tournament, in spite of playing in every edition of the tournament, the Delhi Capitals, can be hailed to have one of the most uncertain groups of players in this season of the IPL. They do not have a defined bowling core, and will definitely struggle with finding replacements if any of their players, especially a bowler gets injured or gets out of form halfway through the tournament.
They do have experienced players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma, with them, but still, their bowling attack seemingly lacks the competitiveness that this format of the sport demands. The team management has brought in the likes of Keemo Paul into the squad, but their lack of experience in this particular tournament and the conditions outshines the things that they would bring in when they are on the field, in terms of their skills. And, the challenge of bowling in the overs where batsmen look to score on every ball, is not something everyone can do.
Their best bets are players like Mohit Sharma, Marcus Stoinis and Kagiso Rabada– all of whom would need to fire constantly in the death overs if the team wants to make it through the league stage of the tournament this time around.
So, the top brass of the team like Shreyas Iyer, their captain for the 2019 edition, along with Ajinkya Rahane, Ashwin, Shikhar Dhawan and their coach, Ricky Ponting, will have to do a lot of brainstorming before every match, in order to decide, what bowling unit they would want to play, according to the conditions of the pitch and gradually form a core that would get carried in every match.
