The Kings Xi Punjab bowling unit, as far as the first picks go, looks more promising than ever prior to the start of the 2020 edition of the IPL. They have a core of bowlers, which the management would love to play every match of the tournament and win them matches. And, adding to it is the sublime form that Mohammad Shami is in, coming into this season.

For the first time since 2008, the KXIP camp would be able to take a sigh of relief, while drafting their best team for the tournament, given the kind of strength and balance their unit has. Led by Shami, it has bowlers like Jimmy Neesham, Chris Jordan and Mujeeb Ur Rahaman, all of whom can get them to wins single-handedly on their days.

Plus, the all-round abilities of Glenn Maxwell, which could come in handy during the middle overs, acts as the icing to a really good cake, giving Shami and others, a break until the fag end of the innings when they are needed the most.

But, there is one thing that escapes the eye of many. It is the fact that they do not have a set of players, ready to take place of the experienced and more talented campaigners, which will be on the team sheet for more often than not. This means that if in the worst-case scenario if two of their strike bowlers does not play through the tournament, for any given reason, the team would find itself in the middle of an inescapable whirlpool.
