England fast bowler James Anderson, on Tuesday, August 25, became the fourth after Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne and Anil Kumble to notch 600 wickets in Test cricket. The 38-year-old accomplished the feat in the third Test against Pakistan at the Old Trafford in Manchester. On the final day’s day, the pacer got rid of Azhar Ali to add another laurel to his career.

The Lancashire-born also became the first pacer to enter the 600-wicket club with Australian great Glenn McGrath behind him. In the first innings, he also got a five-wicket haul, shedding the disappointment that he had after the opening Test in Southampton. The pacer is also confident of picking up 700 wickets and has shown that age is nothing, but a mere number.

Ashwin appreciates James Anderson

After he achieved the feat, the cricketing fraternity didn’t forget to laud him. Ravi Ashwin, the Indian off-spinner, also had words of praises for Anderson. Apart from congratulating him, he also wished to have to a ‘healthy debate’ with the Brits’ pacer on  ‘run out and shredder’.

The veteran tweaker took to Twitter and wrote, “An extraordinary bowler @jimmy9 goes past yet another milestone. What a bowler and what an achievement !! Well done and look forward to having a healthy debate on the run out and shredder ASAP! Someone like you can really help settling the stigma surrounding it.”

Here’s Ashwin’s tweet for Anderson

As far as run-outs are concerned, Ashwin has been hogging the headlines in recent times. In the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), he found himself in trouble after he ‘Mankaded’ Jos Buttler.

“It was pretty instinctive. I actually didn’t load and he (Buttler) left the crease. That’s always been my take on it because it’s my half of the crease. I was not even at the crease; he wasn’t even looking at me and he just left the place,” Ashwin said after the match.

Ashwin will now be playing for the Delhi Capitals after being traded from the Kings XI Punjab. Ricky Ponting, the Capitals’ head coach, was clear cut in saying that Ashwin won’t be allowed to do the same while being in DC.
