The match between Pakistan and West Indies is historic in the sense that it is the first ever day-night Test in the Asian subcontinent. Earlier in the match, Pakistani batsman Azhar Ali set up the platform for Pakistan’s dominion with a triple century. Yasir Shah backed up his performance with his 5/121 in West Indies’ first innings.
Ace Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was not far behind in wishing Yasir Shah for reaching the 100 wickets milestone. Pakistani leg-spinner Yasir became the 2nd fastest bowler to reach the 100 wickets mark in Test cricket. Ashwin took to micro-blogging site Twitter to wish his Pakistan counterpart. In a very friendly tweet, Ashwin congratulated the leggie.
He also asked the leggie to continue in the same form and double his achievement now. Clearly, the Indian offie has shown great sportsmanship. Ravi Ashwin wrote in his tweet, “Just a little late I guess, but very well done @Shah64Y.Double it up now.” Ashwin is currently the number 1 ranked Test bowler in the world. He had reached the 100-wickets mark in 18 Tests.
His achievement had also come against West Indies during West Indies tour of India in 2012 at Mumbai. Yasir bagged his 100th scalp by dismissing Miguel Cummins in the ongoing Test between Pakistan and West Indies.

Yasir Shah’s 5th wicket completed his century of Test wickets. He took 17 Tests to reach the coveted milestone – one short of the world record. Other bowlers who have taken 100 wickets in 17 Tests are Australians Charlie Turner and Clarrie Grimmett, and England’s Sid Barnes.
The fastest among all bowlers to scalp 100 Test wickets is legendary England bowler George Lohmann. He played only 18 matches for England in the 19th century, He scalped 112 wickets at the impressive average of 10.75, with his 100th scalp coming in only his 16th Test. Shah looked threatening to break his record. However, some silent performances in the last couple of Tests saw Shah reach the milestone in 17 Tests.
Tweets came in wishing Yasir Shah for his stunning achievement.
