Tamil Nadu Premier League side, the Dindigul Dragons have been dealt a body blow when Ravi Ashwin has pulled out of the semi-final of the competition. The 30-year old has been unable to play for the Dragons as much as he would have liked this season courtesy of his international commitments with the Indian team.

After coming back from the tour of the West Indies, Ashwin played just the two matches for the Dragons wherein he claimed two wickets and managed 64 runs. He also captained the side in these two matches. However, the highlight of Ashwin’s time with the Dragons will most certainly be the on-field fight he had witnessed between Sai Kishore and Jagadeesan in the TNPL.

According to a TOI source, “Dindigul management thought Ashwin would be available for the match as the national camp was scheduled from September 17. They were awaiting confirmation and clearance from BCCI. However, it didn’t happen.”

Ravi Ashwin will be a part of a preparatory camp ahead of the New Zealand series. The series will kick-off at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur where the Indians will most certainly be expected to put up an impressive showing given the fact that it is indeed their 500th Test match.

Another stat for the Indians is in the reckoning if they manage a win in the series. A 2-0 win in the series will most certainly go on to fortify India’s hold on the number one ranking in the official Test match rankings.

Ravi Ashwin, who has been bestowed with the role of being the all-rounder in the side will be hoping to make a similar mark as he did in the recently concluded tour of the West Indies. Moreover, he will also be looking to complete 200 Test match wickets, something everyone knows that he is more than capable of achieving.
