India’s tour of Australia got underway today on a rather bitter note as they lost the first T20 International in Brisbane by just four runs. The massive boundaries definitely played role as the batsmen failed to hit sixes regularly and the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Dinesh Karthik were holed out at critical junctures. Meanwhile, Ravi Ashwin was thrilled to watch the heart-wrenching game and expressed his delight over the boundary sizes in Australia.
The Indian off-spinner was indirectly highlighting that the long boundaries played in the bowlers’ hands on the day. Very rarely does it happen that the shortest format of the game favours the bowlers and Ashwin was clearly over the moon with that aspect of the game.
Fans criticise Ashwin
Ravi Ashwin took to his official Twitter handle to express delight and wrote, “The boundary sizes in Australia Phew — is a delight for the bowlers.” However, one of his followers on the social media took a dig at him saying that even on such grounds he went for massive sixes. This comment certainly didn’t go down well with Ashwin and like every time he does, the offie came up with a stunning response reminding the fan of his bowling figures during the 2016 T20I series.
Despite justifying his performances, the other fan jumped in the conversation and asked him about his show down under in whites against the mighty Australian team. Ashwin has struggled on both the previous tours to Australia in the longest format. However, the cricketer was once again spot on in his response this time and wrote, “I am the one whose got the records, please go and take a look. I can’t Google and find you.”
Ravi Ashwin will be travelling to Australia soon for the four-match Test series which will commence on December 6 in Adelaide.
