Ravi Ashwin teases David Warner after Indian government bans Tik-Tok
Warner has flooded Tik-Tok with a plethora of videos in the last three months.
Australian batsman David Warner doesn’t have much to do for the time being since there’s no cricket to play. He last played back in March when the Aussies played against New Zealand in an ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground. It was during the same time when the COVID-19 was starting to wreak havoc and the match had to be played behind closed doors in front of the empty stands.
Thereafter, the series was called off and the players returned to their homes. Warner was also set to lead the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the T20 tournament also had to be postponed for an indefinite period of time. However, despite no action on the field, Warner still managed to stay in touch with his fans and well-wishers.
Ashwin pokes fun at David Warner
He opened an account on short video platform Tik-Tok to entertain his supporters. He along with his wife Candice and their daughters danced on several songs. From Punjabi to Telugu numbers, they shook their legs. But now things are about to change. The Indian government has decided to ban 59 Chinese applications after the cross-border tensions between the two Asian countries.
Tik-Tok, which has a huge fan-base in India, is one of the applications. On June 16, it was learned that 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives in a clash with Chinese forces in a disputed Himalayan border area. The incident has led to a lot of furore among the Indians.
In the meantime, Ravi Ashwin, the Indian off-spinner, decided to poke fun at Warner after Tik-Tok’s ban in India. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Appo Anwar? @davidwarner31.” Appo Anwar – It’s a dialogue from superstar Rajnikant’s 1995 Tamil film ‘Basha’ – which roughly translates to: “So, what’s David Warner going to do now?”

As far as Ashwin is concerned, he was also set to play for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL after being traded by the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). Ashwin last played a competitive game in the Test series against New Zealand earlier this year. In that game at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, he picked up three wickets, but India lost the match by 10 wickets after some shoddy performance by the batters.
