Ravi Ashwin urges fans to act responsibly
Australia beat India by 8 wickets in the second T20I in Guwahati.
Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has condemned the attack on the Australian team bus on Tuesday in Guwahati. The unfortunate incident took place after the second T20I which visitors won comprehensively by 8 wickets. The rock was thrown on the Australian team bus on their way back to the hotel due to which the window was broken. However, Ashwin has urged the fans to act responsibly in the wake of an incident and hoped that they would not do it again.
Jason Behrendorff claimed four wickets at the top in the must-win game for his team which rocked India early and they never recovered. Somehow they managed to crawl to 118 courtesy Hardik Pandya but the score was never going to be enough. The seam bowlers though tried their level best to make the match out of it by dismissing Aaron Finch and David Warner in quick succession. But Moises Henriques and Travis Head showed their prowess with the bat and took Australia over the line.
Ashwin’s message on Twitter
Ravichandran Ashwin was not pleased after hearing the news of the team bus of the visitors being attacked after playing such a brilliant cricket on the day. He took to social media and expressed his disappointment and said that such incidents show the country in the bad light and the fans should act responsibly. His message read, “The stone thrown at the Aussie team bus shows us in bad light, let’s all act more responsibly. A vast majority of us are capable of that.”
Earlier, the news of the rock being thrown on the bus was revealed by the Australian opener Finch by posting an image of the broken window on Twitter. He captioned the image as, “Pretty scary having a rock thrown through the team bus window on the way back to the hotel!!” None of the cricket boards or International Cricket Council (ICC) has reacted thus far and it remains to be seen if ICC takes any action on the venue.
